Ma and Pa - Thank you for giving me my life. Thank you for not disowning me everytime i flunked school and for the scandalous act way back highschool (you know what i mean). The Greatest love of my life - It feels so great to finally be able to look at you and not die inside. Loving you has been crazy, but I can honestly say it was worth all the lessons learned. Thank you for showing me what it means to fight, and what it means to let go. I know you dont want me to say this but I love you... but things were different now.

OF THE PHLIPPINES (COMDDAP)
The vision of promoting and elevating the standards of Information technology (IT) in the
Philippines fueled a group of prominent computer companies to form the Computer
Distributors and Dealers Association of the Philippines or COMDDAP. Its initial member companies
represent the world’s leading makers and providers of computer products, solutions
and peripherals.
In 1997, the manufacturing sector – represented by industry leaders Hewlett Packard, Epson and
Compaq, among others – was integrated into the COMDDAP membership, making the
association a more diverse representation of the IT sector and thus the new name, COMPUTER
MANUFACTURERS, DISTRIBUTORS AND DEALERS ASSOCIATION OF THE PHILIPPINES.
Since then, COMDDAP has been maintained and financed by its members through dues, fees,
contributions or donations, and bannered by these specific objectives:
1. Promote the use of information technology and elevate its standards in the
Philippines;
2. Make computers affordable and available to the masses;
3. Provide and create opportunities for users to develop themselves to their fullest
potentials;
4. Supply the market with quality products at reasonable prices with good after-sales
support;
5. To work closely with the government, the private sector and international entities in
promoting the use of information technology;
6. Provide a forum of discussion on matters relating to the computer industry; and
7. Foster anf cultivate harmony, cordiality and camaraderie among the members so that
they can work together as one for the benefit of the industry.
Twenty (20) years hence, COMDDAP has grown not only in terms of membership, but also in the
activities it holds and organizations it chooses to collaborate with.
COMDDAP counts among its achievements the holding of the Annual COMDDAP exhibit, more
popularly known as the COMDDAP EXPO, which has become a consistent crowd drawer and
has in itself set new records in terms of the quality of exhibit area, exhibitors, visitors, and venues.
In fact, COMDDAP EXPO in 1999 marked the first exhibit to have adapted an upgraded booth
shell schemes.
The annual COMDDAP endeavor encourages its participants to launch their products and
services, as well as hold seminars with a variety of topics in the areas of technology, trends,
applications, and information management.
COMDDAP ‘s biggest leap was being able to cross boarders or go regional by bringing the
exposition down south in Cebu and Davao City, and to even greater heights in the cities of
Baguio and Naga, and most recently, in Iloilo City.

Apart from its exhibits, the organization holds COMDDAP Leaning Center Project and Training
the Trainors program. This is part of the civic and social responsibility programs that the
association has vowed to pursue. The project provides public high school students and public
school teachers the opportunity to learn basic computer theories, get hands-on experience, and
become familiar with computers.
COMDDAP is likewise involved with the Media-Citizen’s Quick Count (MCQC) operations in
response to the call of national interest. The bulk of equipment and technical support for this
endeavor were provided for by the member-companies.
COMDDAP has also pledged to protect its members in addressing the growing issue of software
piracy, a practice that has affected and stunted the growth of the local software industry, as well
as the country’s trade relations with other countries .In pushing this, COMDDAP has expressed
its full support in the local manufacturing of DOS at an affordable price and with after-sales
support, as well as launching a massive educational campaign.
Indeed, COMDDAP has gone a long way from a mere assemblage of premier IT companies and
enthusiasts. With the support and enthusiasm of its member-companies, COMDDAP expects and
looks forward to accomplishing more worthwhile projects in the future as COMDDAP is committed

Last July 2-4, 2009, THE COMPUTER MANUFACTURERS, DISTRIBUTORS AND DEALERS ASSOCIATION OF THE PHLIPPINES (COMDDAP) held a 3-days long exhibit at the Grand Ballroom, Apo View Hotel, Davao City. Luckily for me, for us, I was able to attend to a seminar held at the place. I attended last July 2, 2009 to be exact. I arrived at 1pm together with my classmates and friends. It started pretty late, that’s why the seminar started around 2:00pm. I attended two seminars. First is the ERIC DMS (Brilliant Dealer Management System) and the other is about THE HP and NEXUS. The HP and NEXUS tackled about this THIN CLIENT. According to

The seminar about thin clients caught my attention with its benefits to the environment especially nowadays we are facing the problem about global warming. It’s so nice to hear that people invent things just to protect the world, though we all know that technology is one of the factors of global warming. But still people do try to help our world in a simple way, such conducting a seminar which presenting new technologies that could somehow prevent the climate change.

What are the terms and condition of making an Enrollment System?

The provider agrees to the following terms and conditions of the Early Steps Provider Enrollment

1. An enrolled and approved provider in the Early Steps Provider Enrollment System is eligible to provide services in the Early Steps system through a provider agreement with a Local Early Steps.

2. A Local Early Steps is under no obligation to employ or contract with an approved provider based solely on the fact that the provider is enrolled and approved in the Early Steps Provider Enrollment System.

3. Providers are required to immediately notify the Early Steps Provider Enrollment Specialist of any changes in their enrollment record.

4. At time of enrollment, the provider shall submit (mail or fax) to the Early Steps Provider

Enrollment Specialist proof of the following, as required in Table 1.

I have read some article regarding computerized enrollment system on other university. See for an example, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) Enrollment Procedure:

Reminders to All Students

1. DO NOT detach any part of the Registration Certificate;

2. PROCEED to the Cashier for payment. NO RECEIPTS are required to be filled up, the Registration Certificate will serve as an Official Receipt upon validation by the machine.

3. The payment of fees is the last step of the process. The Chief Accountant’s Copy and Registrar’s Copy of Form 21 will be collected by the Cashier-on-Duty. NO NEED to have the Registration Certificate (Student's Copy) validated by the Office of the University Registrar.

For Regular Students

Computerized enrollment system is now used by the universities, colleges and other establishments. Therefore, computerized enrollment system is very useful for both the firm and students because it rather give an effective and efficient approach for both the students and schools. Most enrollment systems are used to delegate out limited time slots or products. A well built one will allow for those time slots to be handed out in a quick fashion reducing the load on the People that normally have to-do all the work. It also gets the customers information into a nice nifty database for you to pull stats information and well as quick contact information from get into more advanced systems they include payment methods. On top of that with computerized enrollment systems you don't have to worry about not being able to read someone’s hand writing (I know mines hell) that alone mattering on the client base can be a blessing. And if you’re dealing with an older group of people systems can be built to quickly provide Large Text making it easier for them to read and fill out the enrollment forms... That’s always something good to brag about... That’s just the upper edge. But any enrollment systems need to be review to make sure it will be an advantage to the businesses needs and not hinder it.

For old student

The above steps are the procedure on enrolling an old student at the University of Southeastern Philippines. As I observed, the validation of the library id is not included in the procedure. I don’t know why it is so. The validation of the e-card takes place right after processing at the registrar. Since I’ve been in the university for quite a long time (almost 5 years to be exact) the new and old procedure of the enrollment for old system are the same (excluding the library part).

For new student

Year 2005, almost five years ago, if my memory serves me right Step 1 is not part of the enrollment procedure. I did not remember encoding of Student Information and Identification Number Assignment was included on it. The new procedure, however, is confusing. I have an older brother who is a first year college student in the university. Comparing the ways on my time and his time, there are lots of changes. And also the library registration is not included, again. I think validation and application of library id is part of the enrollment procedure.

For shiftee

I have really no idea on the procedure for the enrollment of a shiftee.

I will quote Ms. Kate Mariel Dizon’s post about the old procedure for both new & old student in the University of Southeastern Philippines, since she stated it clear and detailed;

“Based on experience, these are the steps for enrolment for new students:
1. Pay miscellaneous and other fees
2. Go to UGTO and fill up student records
3. (For scholars only) Apply for a scholarship at the Office Student Services
4. Enroll in ROTC or CWTS
5. Go to your college adviser, submit or present all necessary documents, and secure a Pre-Registration form
6. Fill up the PRF and have your adviser sign it
7. Submit the PRF to the encoder and secure Certificate of Registration
8. (For scholars) Verify student accounts at the bookkeeper. (For non-scholars) Pay tuition fee at the cashier
9. Submit all necessary documents/requirements and complete enrolment by getting stamped “Officially Enrolled” at the registrar
10. (Extra step) Apply for a library card

Based on experience, these are the steps for enrolment for old students:
1. Pay miscellaneous fees and other fees
2. (For scholars only) Validate scholarship at the Office of Student Services
3. Go to your college adviser, submit or present all necessary documents, and secure a Pre-Registration form

In-house resource is same as the word outsourcing. According to Wikipedia.com

As I have search for the cause and effect of outsourcing I read this article

By that definition, it gives me idea to on what is the concern of the question; assignment number 1.

As I read the question on assignment number 1 I come up to this several questions.

First: What is in-house resource/s?

Second: Why does an establishment tapped in-house resources?

Third: What could be its advantages? What its disadvantages?

Fourth: Was it a good decision?

Fifth: As a student, what could be its effects?

An establishment; a school, a company, so on so forth decided to apply this what we called “in-house resources,” for me, because of economic circumstances. Why? We can’t predict our economy and unfortunately our country is suffering economic crisis. By that reason, in order to survive, people will think of any solution into their problems but of course. For an example, the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP) decided tapped in-house resources. What could be reasons on why is it so? USEP is one of the promising schools not only in Davao City, but also In the Philippines. And whatever happens to the country will have an effect on the university itself. The University I must say produced and consists of individual who is globally competitive. There are dilemmas in the school which can handle and manage yet unluckily, there are those problems that can’t be deal with by the university. On the brighter side, USEP always look for a way to minimize and come up to solution which is always to its advantage. Why look for “something” outside, if we could have the “big thing” inside. Same as, why does the university look for a solution outside the school if the university alone produces those I called “big-thing”? Why look so far if we have it under our nose?

The advantage is in the university’s side. Why? It is also, could be, hitting two birds at one stone; one decision two outcomes. The first one is the university’s benefits when it comes to financial. The school will not pay for someone else’s work instead saving it for school projects, etc. or maybe, just, maybe, lessen the tuition of the students. That latter will be a big help not only to the students but also to their families. The second result is for the name of the university. It is good to hear that a university can solve its problem on its own; could provide solution and can produce those “globally competitive” people. For me, the profile of a university lies on the undergraduates, graduates, faculties & staffs. The disadvantages, on the other hand, sometimes we haven’t notice what we have not until we lose those things which making our lives more complicated. What I mean is that the university took so long to notice that they have assets who have great minds. Nonetheless, as for now, I guess the university notice there treasures. There could always be a room for changes and improvement.

Was the idea a good decision? For me yes. As I said, the decision is only to neither the student nor the teachers but absolutely to the whole university. As a student, as a USEP’ian, it could really a big help for me, for us.

The consultation of Dr. Randy S. Gamboa is different among the usual way of consultation. For the reason that; if the first group isn’t done consulting about their own system, the others can’t talk to him personally. I’m not against with it, yet other group will take a lot of time, and for heaven sake, can’t they adjust for the sake of others? (I can’t believe I’m saying this, but hey! freedom of speech people).
The faculty room, for me, isn’t really a convenient place for consultation. Sometimes (no, not sometimes) many times, other teachers are there and ho-ho-ho we can almost hear them laughing. (kaulaw) but, like they said, “there’s no place like faculty”.
The other circumstances were, in my own opinion, good. I’m grateful to the fact that Dr. Gamboa changed our mind about our proposed system, from Jurassic (Sir Gamboa’s term) to, in my word, an appropriate-for-ComSci-student system. Thank you sir!

* student - the actor. She/ he must have 2 copies of clearance. 1. advising - a student must first go to their respective adviser to, of course, advise. The adviser must approve all the subject that a student may have or must take in the upcoming semester. He/ she must have the clearance (signed by the adviser, etc.). The student must follow all the rules and regulations (in the grading system ) to avoid dismissal. :)

2. Miscellaneous - pay all the miscellaneous i.e., the headlight, OCSC, OCLC, or the organization fee (if available ^-^ ). Don't forget to keep the receipts.

3. Scholar - a scholar student must validate their scholarship card. Non-scholar student can proceed now to the encoder.

4. Encoder - fill up first the PRF given by the adviser and submit it to the encoder along with the receipts (miscellaneous). If she/he's a scholar submit also the validated scholarship card. After waiting don't forget your COR.

5. Cashier - * scholar - submit your COR, scholarship card and all the receipts.
* non-scholar- pay for the partial/ full amount of your tuition. Wait for the receipt.

6. Registrar - present all the" documents" you have.
Submit:
1 copy of your clearance, receipts, cor, and *scholarship card
*scholar students
the student is now officially enroll but she/he must still validate their e-card (library id)

7. Library - Present all the "papers" you have; the cor, the receipts, etc. A student must validate their library card to avoid sanctions. :))

DONE - the student is now officially enrolled and validated ( library id)

adaptive or predictive... which is which?

problem: Following the SDLC model, please discuss the acitvities/steps that you will undertake in order to achieve your objective/s in life. what approach(es) would you use, predictive/adaptive?.. your own version of SDLC pls...

as for me, my first step would be having a concrete plan in order for me to achieve my objectives in life. Everything starts with a plan (though I'm a go-with-the-flow person sometimes), it would be a better foundation before anything else. The second will be my starting point. I mean it must be more on work rather than imagining, but of course thinking would be part of it. And the rest? Oh! let God be my guide :). Prayers would be my best action. haha.

What approaches would I use,predictive/adaptive?

In my decisions in life, I am an adaptive-person. Like I said in the upper part of this I don't usually make plans in anything and everything that comes along my way ( my school life would be a different story hahaha :) ) It's not that I'm a totally irresponsible lady, what I mean is that there were things in life which is not worth thinking for. And I would rather disregard it for I know God has a purpose about it.
Yet things in school is really far different among those of my life. In school it's better that adaptive and predictive goes in hand. We'll use predictive in order for as to have this what we called sop or the standard operating procedure. The teachers will,of course, set a deadline. And as a student, we know the a deadline is a deadline(but it's really up to the teacher if he/she will give us the 'palugit' hahahaha). Kidding aside, on the contrary adaptive must also be implemented What's the benefit? Everybody must be open in all posibilities, other ideas, brilliant opinions and anything under the sun for we never know what will happen next. It may result to a better or the best project ever.

Our former professor, Dr. Tamara Cher Mercado told us that we were expected to make and implement a system of a certain company/establishment required in the course System Analysis and Design 1 commonly known as SAD1.

How we arrive with this proposal?
My younger brother (one of the tutor in the said center) once told me about their way of record keeping, payroll,etc. Me, as a Computer Science student, found it really interesting. Payroll use only basic mathematical operations but what bothered me most is that the system must be reliable in such a way that it will operate from the basic informations to the everyday transactions. Me, together with my three(3) group mates agreed to develop the At Home with Sensei tutorial center's System. The said project does not only focus more about on the payroll but rather it dwells also on the day-to-day negotiation of the center. One of those is the logging in&out of the tutor, how will the the system handle if the tutor is a reliever, keeping the monthly record for year or even years, the income of the tutor that will depend on the rate of the tutee, and other things that could a tutorial center might encounter. The system isn't that simple, I should say. And fortunately, Dr. Mercado allowed us to start our proposal. Headstrong, we started from then on.

Is it worth it?

Before 2008 welcomes 2009 Dr. Tamara said 'babye' to SAD1 subject that we are now under to Dr. Randy S. Gamboa's class(advisory). Tension rises. :). Yet we never lose hope. To the question 'Is it worth the three or more years of learnings we get from the university?' I definitely say YES.
For almost four(4) years, being a student of Computer Science in USEP is not more on developing only our knowledge, hence the values and wisdom are also one of the element of it. I believe, attaining a system in a wrong way is worse than having a simple yet reliable one. What I want to say is that, our proposed system might be common or simple or whatever as long as we make it from the smallest informations to the largest details, it is more than anything else.

SAD refLectioN (not the emotion, rather the subject)

Last December 18,2008 we had this sort'of make up class with Sir Gamboa. The first meetings' really unforgettable. Me and my friend/classmate Anne magaway had this ritual for the virgins. aw. Haha.

The start...

(im getting a headache) mmmm... to start, the reporters, with their perspective topics (of course), bound to give new ideas yet unfortunately we had the 'right topic at the wrong time' (same here classmates). for a one'n a half day we discussed 7 chapters a row from (Chap.2 to Chap8 from 8 am to 5pm). They, I mean we, absolutely wanted to deliver another 'dagdag kaalaman' to our classmates. I just want to connect my report (stakeholders) to other topics(haha).. Stakeholders; those who are interested in the successful system. My point is, how could we implement a system we don't have this people?

To the other reporters - "job well done classmates".. It's nice to know that we finished it for a short time.

To Sir Gamboa - what else can I say but good luck to me. haha.

haha! im really dorky. i speak my mind.
im always a no-show in school, BUT!, i always pass(in minor subjects).
haha! i never get into things i can't handle.
i don't make plans, no, never. i always take everything as come-what-may
or if-it-happens-it-happens. i always take it easy, but most of the
time, I GO BEYOND MY LIMITS. i love walking around and taking photos
of random people(if i have the camera of course), i love
talking and talking to people im comfortable communicating with.
i love those good listeners.if i find you too boring,
you couldnt really expect me to start a conversation, you could start though and
expect the conversation to be flowing afterwards (if i would feel friendly that is).
if anybody would force me to say something just for the sake of it,
they would have to wait for one hundred
years until they get something from me.
i love intellectual conversations with intellectual people
but i hate debating or arguing in things which are SENSELESS.
im the laziest texter you'll ever know haha!
well considering the fact that i rarely got load.
unpredictable at times,im kind'a MOODY.
i am also sweet to people that i really like but
tend to be a snob to stranger.im not really snob,it's just i dont know them.;].
yet,i don't pick friends.
